Competition Results
We were delighted with the wonderful entries we had for this years Children’s Art Competition sponsored by The Lions Club of Midhurst, with over a hundred. As a result we decided to give out extra prizes – instead of just Under 7 Category and 8 – 11 Age Category – we decided to split it into Under 7, 8-9 Category and 10 – 11 Category. We also decided in addition to giving prizes to the Category Winners & Runner Ups – we would give a prize to each Year Group winner and Runner up.
The Winners of the Overall Categories art work will be on display in Whizbitz as part of the 2024 MADhurst Art Trail 1st -31st August, the Overall Category Runner Up art work will be on display in Garton’s Cafe; The remaining Year Group Winners art work will be on display in The Notebook and the Year Group Runner Up art work will be on display as part of the MADhurst Pop-Up Exhibition sponsored by The Arts Society of Midhurst & The Lions Club of Midhurst in the Methodist Church Hall Thurs 1st – Sat 3rd August.
There will also be a selection of the other Children’s Art Competition Entries at The Pop-Up Exhibition.

Wonderful Midhurst !
A fun art competition has been launched as part of this year’s MADhurst and is encouraging young people to get creative.
Primary School children aged 11 or under are being invited to create artwork that showcases the things that inspire them about Midhurst.
This competition is a chance to let your imagination run wild and depict what you love about Midhurst and the surrounding villages. It might be anything from a tranquil hidden corner, your school, your back garden, a beautiful view, your favourite shop – the choice is yours!
The winners will be presented with their special awards at the Midhurst Town Council Summer Street Party on Saturday 24th August 2023 and their winning entries will be included in the MADhurst Art Trail 2024.
The Children’s Art Competition is funded by The Lions Club Midhurst
The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 14th July
Full Details, Terms & Conditions
- The competition is open to children and young people aged up to 11 years old.
- Entries will be judged according to two age categories:
- 7 years and under
- 8-11 years
- Entry to the competition is free.
- Only one entry per child.
- All entries must be original, and they must not have been published anywhere else.
- You must have permission from a parent/guardian/group leader/teacher to enter the competition.
How to Enter
- Your entry must be accompanied by an entry form completed by a Parent/Guardian/Group Leader/Teacher.
- Any artwork submitted without a completed entry form will not be entered in the competition.
- If you are emailing your competition entry your artwork must be emailed to secretary@madhurst.co.uk as an image file. If sending your entry as an image file (.jpg or .jpeg), the file must be least 1 Mb in file size (maximum file size 5 Mb).
- If you would prefer to deliver the original artwork in person, please print and complete the form, then bring it, together with the finished artwork to Mantis Art Studio, Bepton Road, Midhurst GU29 9LY
- Please note that original artwork cannot be returned.
- The closing date/time is midnight on Sunday 14th July 2024. Submissions received after this time will not be accepted.
- By signing the form, the parent/guardian/group leader/teacher gives permission for the entrant to take part and for MADhurst Festival representative to make contact with the parent, guardian or group leader to discuss public relations opportunities/ sharing of the artwork as part of the MADhurst Art Trail and on the MADhurst Website.
- No responsibility is accepted for network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind that may restrict or delay the sending of your entry. No responsibility is accepted by MADhurst for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, or which cannot be entered for technical or other reasons.
Copyright
- By entering the competition, you grant the MADhurst a non-exclusive, royalty free, irrevocable licence to reproduce, publish or exhibit your artwork. This may include, but is not limited to:
- News coverage of the competition
- MADhurst website and social media
- Exhibitions
- Publications – such as leaflets and reports
- For use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional and specialist press giving information about or promoting the competition.
- By entering the competition, you also agree that MADhurst may also, at its sole discretion, edit, adapt, abridge or translate the entry for the purposes listed above in reproducing, publishing or exhibiting your artwork.
- By entering the competition, you agree that nothing in the entry will infringe the copyright or any other intellectual property right of any third party or defame any third party.
- It must be possible to contact the responsible person during school holidays, as well as in term time.
GDPR
- In order to facilitate this competition, the MADhurst Festival will need to process some personal information, specifically, the entrant’s name, age and location (postcode). This will be used to allow the MADhurst representative to contact finalists and prize winners and in order to identify entrants in any publication of an entry.

Competition prizes
- Winners will receive a prize and have their artwork published on the MADhurst websites and as part of the MADhurst Art Trail.
- Winners will be informed by the end of July.
- Prizes will be awarded on Saturday 24th August 2023 at MTC Summer Street Party, in the Market Square.
